The San Diego County Deputy Sheriff’s Foundation hosts the annual Save the Bacon Ride each fall. The foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that supports San Diego County Deputy Sheriffs and the communities they serve. All of the proceeds from the ride support the foundation, with special emphasis on the Critical Incident Support Fund, which provides assistance to wounded deputies and their families.

The San Diego County Deputy Sheriff’s Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that provides relief and support to San Diego County Deputy Sheriffs and the communities they serve.

The foundation makes contributions to youth programs and organizations within the County of San Diego, including athletic, educational and artistic endeavors. Donations are made to individual teams and schools, as well as organizations that concentrate on youth programs.

To properly honor and remember fallen officers, the foundation supports the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Fund, California Memorial and the National Law Enforcement Memorial, as well as, the local San Diego County Memorial Foundation, which is currently in the process of building a new countywide memorial.

The foundation also supports widows and children of law enforcement personnel who die in the line of duty and provides sickness and distress assistance to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department personnel and their families who are in need of help, have medical needs that are not completely covered by health insurance or have other emergencies.
